I have been using this wire to weld 0.060" Aluminum sheet, and it works really well.MIG Welder, 100% Argon gas, you need to use a Spool gun, and it takes a while to dial it in. You need to practice, but now I can weld corner seams, and butt joints. You need to keep moving, if you stay in one spot it will burn through, but the results are totally acceptable!

This wire was an experiment to see if my cheapo mig machine

This wire was an experiment to see if my cheapo mig machine (HF) would weld aluminum. I have tried tig welding aluminum, but very tricky and learning curve to achieve good results long. So, I decided to try the mig route. Some process notes: Clean, clean, clean......the material first with a dedicated stainless steel brush, then wipe down with acetone. Use 100% argon gas 25-30 cfh, set feed speed higher than your used to with mild steel and be prepared to push feed quicker than your used to. I also preheated a bit with propane torch. Amp setting will have to be experimented with but I g…
